IX (in 1607), King Gistav II Adolphus (in 1617) and Queen Christine (in 1650)
changed the phrase in their title from "Elected / Designated King and Hereditary
Prince of Sweden" to "King of Sweden". Later kings at the time of their
coronations changed the phrase in their title from "King and Hereditary Prince
of Sweden" to "King of Sweden".
2. In 1751, the Crown of Sweden passed to members
of the House of Holstein-Gottorp whose title included "Heir of Norway". In 1814,
the phrase was removed when King Charles XIII became King of Norway.
